The Great Fire
The drawbridge was down
I was standing on the edge of town
I felt that I'd been invited in
you just stood there
and looked at me with a grin
I set it all up so I walked away
there was nothing to say anyway
but I wont forget until
the rope's around my neck
trust is a word I seldom regret
Doreen can you remember the great fire
Doreen do you remember the great fire
I felt sad so I had a drink
and smoked a cigarette
when the ghost of an angel said
'remember no regrets'
now I know its just a puzzle
that sent you out of your mind
and allthough I'm always dreaming
I watch your house go up in flames
Doreen can you remember the great fire
Doreen do you remember the great fire
Doreen can you remember the great fire
Doreen do you remember the great fire
Now I know that stories have been told
of a great fire that kept away the cold
Tragedy redemption
have never been My intentions
But I cant help thinking
that some things turn out
the way their meant to be
And my hands are warm in my pockets
as I turn and walk away
Doreen can you remember the great fire
Doreen do you remember the great fire
Doreen can you remember the great fire
Doreen do you remember the great fire
