Jayson Stilwell - The Albums

In the year 2000, Jayson decided to experiment further with sound.

Having played music from an early age, he wanted to find ways to reach a wider audience by mixing ancient singing styles with modern instruments. This led to a UK-based record company, Amazing Feet, signing him up to record an album.

"Brand New World", Jayson Stilwell's first album, was completed in early 2001, and was so well received that the label immediately asked him to record more work. Jayson responded by writing and recording his new album "On Earth".This album consists of one long continuous piece, designed to be both an aid to meditation as well as a melodic work to simply enjoy as a piece of music.

While both Jayson's albums are very accessible, they are not easy to place into any particular genre, or category. He cites a desire to avoid pretensions and just make 'works of beauty' which use key elements taken from his work with sound. In this down-to-earth way, just as with his popular workshops and lectures, he is aiming to reach beyond the world of alternative philosophies or therapies to a wider, more 'mainstream' audience.

The result of his radical ideas means that while Jayson Stilwell's two unique albums do not require any knowledge or interest in his art to appreciate, the are encouraging new interest in singing techniques which date back thousands of years. Jayson explains: "While I have deeply held views that matter to me, I am not 'selling' a way of life, or asking people to take up some new meditation method. I just want to give people the chance to experience these ancient ways of making sounds in a way that makes sense today"

He adds: "Sure, the positive benefits, even healing power of these sounds is a big part of what my recording work is about - but if someone just thinks it's 'nice music' that's fine! Of course, if it makes anyone curious to know more, it's better still. For me, it's good to know that I have brought something new into people's lives that's positive for them on any level. It's really rewarding."
